Pearl Grey cut its teeth in the early 2000s, hauling amps into bars and Legion halls from Colby to Junction City, playing red dirt country the way it came rolling up out of Texas and Oklahoma: Jason Boland, Pat Green, the Great Divide. Along the way they shared a Hays stage with the Bleu Edmondson Band, played a trail ride deep in the Gyp Hills and earned a name for nights that ran late and loud.
Then life happened. Now, after some time off, the band is back. Aaron Traffas is out front on vocals and guitar. Johnny Lapka and Jim Billinger, both there for those 2004 shows, hold down the drums and bass, and Mike Kisner adds the guitar that ties it all together.
Come out and you'll hear a few originals mixed in with the classic red dirt sing-alongs you already know every word to. Maybe a little classic rock, if you ask nicely. And a whole lot of fun.
Rodeos, festivals, street dances, private parties and bars. Tell us about your event and we'll get back to you.
